We accept both vision and medical insurance. Your insurance benefits, co-pays and exam costs will be discussed with you at the beginning of your appointment. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, checks or credit cards.
Vision insurance can be complicated. Fortunately our office is experienced working with multiple plans and will explain your insurance coverage and work with your insurance company to submit claims associated with your care. Plans vary widely and many are designed to cover the very basic costs, but not all costs associated with your visit. Most plans require the patient to pay a co-pay for their visit as well as a portion of their material fees. Vision insurance is billed for eye exams or contact lens exams as well as materials. Occasionally some vision plans will cover medical office visits as well, such as an office visit for evaluation of diabetic retinopathy for those patients with diabetes.

Medical insurance is billed when you are being monitored or treated for a medical issue such as dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, an eye infection or having a foreign body removed from your eye. Medical insurance generally doesn't pay for a routine vision exam if there are not medical issues and medical insurance does not pay for any materials such as glasses or contact lenses.
Flex Spending Accounts
Many employers offer flexible spending accounts to their employees. These plans are designed to allow you to save money in a pre-tax account that you can then use to pay medical expenses. These expenses can be for medical office visits, eye exams, glasses, contact lenses or laser vision correction. Often times the money in this account has to be used by the end of the calendar year or you will lose it so if there is money in your account at the end of the year think about putting it towards a vision exam and new pair of glasses or sunglasses.
CareCredit is another payment alternative for those who already have a CareCredit card or those interested in getting a card. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that allows you to pay for the costs of medical office visits, procedures and materials and allows you to make convenient monthly payments.
